Implantable Collamer Lens or better known as ICL is one of the refractive surgery techniques offered at Innova Ocular IOA Madrid to correct myopia, hyperopia and / or astigmatism.
It is based on implantation of an extremely fine lens inside the patient's eye so that it can be released from his glasses or contact lenses, recovering his vision at the exit of the surgery room.
ICL lenses are designed to offer the patient maximum comfort and have long lasting results. In addition, this technique is a reversible process, so no structure of the eye is permanently affected, which allows it to be replaced or removed in the event that graduation changes in the future or any other type of alteration or pathology occurs.
They are made of collamer, a material that is naturally generated for the body and has some unique characteristics. They are biocompatible, do not usually cause dry eye syndrome, are easily implanted thanks to their soft and flexible structure, they do not feel and are capable of creating a UV protection barrier.
For more details, we recommend the following video where Dr. Poyales explains in detail this technique:
If you have not had any ophthalmologic surgery and you have not suffered eye diseases such as iritis, glaucoma or diabetic retinopathy, you may be a good candidate to undergo this technique. However, the patient should be studied in detail by the ophthalmologist and he will assess the suitability of your case.
Thanks to this procedure that lasts about 10-15 minutes, you can correct your vision immediately, say goodbye to your glasses or contact lenses and go back to your daily activities in just a few days.
